Southampton tower block tenants demand individually-controlled heating solution to reduce costs, boost comfort
Tenants of the Sturminster House tower block in Maybush, Southampton, have staged a public protest in order to complain about the “defective” heating system installed in the building, which has has left them cold in the winter and “burning” hot in the summer.
According to a report in the local media, the tenants are demanding action from the council, and have handed in a petition with the signatures of almost 100 residents from the block’s 120 flats.
Right now, residents have to pay £19.42 a week for the heating, although it only runs for six months of the year. Tenants claim that many of them have fallen into fuel poverty as a result and are suffering from financial difficulty. They demand the installation of a better heating system (if possible, one that would grant them individual control over their apartments’ heating).
When there’s a very clear and visible demand regarding the implementation of a solution that would grant users superior control over their heating system, the HeatSave wireless thermostatic radiator valves could really prove their worth.
