UK university to deploy district heating system
A well-known university is on its way to having a £2 million ($2.8 million) biomass-fuelled district heating system installed, a recent news report has been able to suggest.
The University of York will undergo a major £750 million expansion programme, and, as part of this scheme, it installed a new biomass boiler and two combined heat and power (CHP) engines, designed to power both existing and future buildings.
This includes the full pipework and communications network to the University’s three storey Piazza Building that will include teaching facilities for the new International Pathway College, seminar rooms, a 350-seat lecture theatre, a 300-seat restaurant, a library and conference facilities.
Energy savings delivered by district heating networks can be further bolstered by fitting radiators across the properties connected to said networks with the HeatSave wireless thermostatic radiator valves.
The HeatSave TRVs are designed to work with an extensive range of radiators and enable users to precisely control the activity of every single radiator in their home, and perfectly program it in order to match their own schedule and living habits.
The valve’s controlling software, simple and eas, enable users to set specific functioning times for each valve. Since radiators are individually controlled, the HeatSave valves enable users to maximise the zoning potential and reduce energy consumption in those areas that are not used for longer periods of time (as for example, dining or sitting rooms and kitchens during the night, etc.).
Additionally, the HeatSave wireless thermostatic radiator valves also provide an automatic exercising feature when unused for 7 days, whose purpose is to minimise seizing of radiator valves in warmer months.
All in all, the HeatSave TRVs enable users to achieve some pretty impressive savings, as they will help reduce your heating bills by up to 30%.
