Hillingdon residents can now apply for slice of £3million energy efficiency pot
A local council has set up a scheme that will allow home owners pressured by rising energy bills to apply for funding in order to make their houses more energy efficient.
The scheme set out by Hillingdon council is a part of the Government’s Green Deal Communities program and will allow residents to receive the funds required for the implementation of energy-saving measures such as cavity wall insulation, double glazing, loft insulation and heating upgrades, a news report in the local media has revealed.
The cost of the energy efficiency measures will be covered partly by Hillingdon Council and partly through a loan – which householders will pay back with the money saved in their energy bills. The loan is attached to the house rather than the homeowner, meaning repayments will pass on to new owners if the property is sold, to be paid for out of continuing energy savings.
Nevertheless, savings from the green changes must be greater than charges applied, to ensure the work pays for itself and owners see the benefit of reduced gas and electricity bills.
Hillingdon’s deputy chief executive and corporate director of residents services, Jean Palmer, said: “We are encouraging our residents to find out how the Green Deal scheme can help them slash their energy bill.”
The HeatSave thermostatic radiator valves represent some of the easiest to install and most cost-effective energy-saving measures out there, as they enable users to set specific functioning times for each valve, and, since radiators are individually controlled, home owners are fully capable to maximise the zoning potential and reduce energy consumption in those areas that are not used for longer periods of time (as for example, dining or sitting rooms and kitchens during the night, etc.).
Additionally, the HeatSave wireless thermostatic radiator valves also provide an automatic exercising feature when unused for 7 days, whose purpose is to minimise seizing of radiator valves in warmer months.
All in all, the HeatSave TRVs enable users to achieve some pretty impressive savings, as they will help reduce your heating bills by up to 30%.
