Energy costs more concerning than mortgage or rent across Europe, survey suggests

The soaring costs associated to home energy bills are more concerning for home owners than paying their rent or mortgage, a survey suggests.

Research carried out by B&Q owner Kingfisher across 17,000 households in nine European countries points out that the biggest priority in the home is improving energy efficiency. Almost a third (31%) of people participating in the poll said they intended to introduce measures to cut their energy bills.

“There is a staggering increase in the number of people who intend to prioritise energy efficiency,” said Kingfisher boss Sir Ian Cheshire.

“It is soaring bills that is driving this agenda.”
